Our SES Program
Supplemental Educational Services (SES) is part of the Title I program under the No Child Left Behind Act. The program began in 2002 and has continued to grow. SES services are only provided to qualifying schools and to students that are receiving a free or reduced lunch. The program is free to students and parents.
Smarties Tutoring Services partners with schools to run innovative after-school and summer programs. We offer programs in reading, writing, math, and science. Our staff of professional educators works with principals, curriculum coordinators, and teachers to develop a customized program specifically designed to meet the needs of your school. Throughout our programs, we communicate regularly with school personnel about our students’ progress in order to ensure that we are meeting the schools’ goals for its students. Classroom teachers receive a copy of the “Smartie Learning Plan,” which we develop for each student, so the classroom teacher knows what students will be learning in our program. Classroom teachers also receive a monthly progress report and a comprehensive summative report for each of their students enrolled in Smarties.
Success
Our programs are extremely successful. Most schools where we run programs make double digit percent gains on the state tests. Individually, four out of five of our students improve by at least 10% from pretest to post test and half our students improve by over 25%. On a survey, 95% of classroom teachers told us that they would recommend Smarties for their students.
